Inside the Mohammed VI Tower. A guided tour

A few days after its inauguration, the press was invited to discover the Mohammed VI Tower. A first for Rabat, this skyscraper offers an immersive journey in which each level reveals a different facet of the project, successively economic, residential, hospitality and cultural. While the ascent from the ground floor to the 51st floor takes just 30 seconds by elevator, the visit itself feels like a dive into a unique vertical ecosystem in Morocco.

A Majestic Entrance

From the moment visitors step inside, the tone is set by a vast lobby with impressive volumes, finished in premium materials (marble, oversized chiselled copper doors…), combining a resolutely modern design with distinctly Moroccan touches. For those discovering the ground floor, the space has been conceived as a shared environment where visitors, residents and professionals intersect.

This is also where the tower’s main services are located, along with access to its different components, including a 1,400-square-metre conference hall capable of accommodating up to 1,000 participants. Sleek and far from being mere passageways, the corridors act as meeting points, reflecting the project’s multifunctional ambition.

An Economic Hub Across 13 Floors

From the first to the 13th floor, the tower reveals its business dimension, with 26 office spaces set to be occupied by major Moroccan and international companies. These levels are intended to host corporate headquarters, positioning the building as a future business hub in Rabat.

Although the press was not granted access to this section, which has yet to be allocated, our guide emphasized that these ultra-modern, modular spaces meet international standards.

According to him, they are expected to enhance Rabat’s appeal to investors, complementing Casablanca. Their role will be to serve as a strategic lever for strengthening the local economic ecosystem.

Living Above Rabat

Although we were not given access to the residential section located between the 13th and 28th floors, everything suggests that the 30 apartments offered for sale and furnished rental will provide sweeping views over the Bouregreg Valley, the Atlantic Ocean, and the cities of Rabat and Salé.

Reserved for a select clientele seeking an exclusive living environment combining comfort, security and top-tier amenities, these units are expected to command prices exceeding 30,000 dirhams per square metre, making them the most expensive in the capital.

As seen in cities such as Dubai or Kuala Lumpur, which feature similar developments, this blend of residential and professional functions gives Rabat a new dimension as a vertical city.

A Luxury Hotel in the Sky

After exploring the ground-floor lobby and the imposing Ballroom, we took one of the 36 elevators, reaching in seconds the Waldorf Astoria hotel, located between the 29th and 49th floors.

Without disturbing guests seeking privacy, the general manager of this 55-room luxury hotel, including 38 suites, limited the visit to the restaurant on the 31st floor, capable of serving up to 500 guests a day, and offering sweeping 360-degree views over Rabat and Salé.

There is little doubt that the establishment will meet the standards of this historic luxury brand, which operates in around twenty countries.

To underscore this ambition, Guy Bertaud highlighted that the culinary experience will be led by renowned chef Alain Ducasse, whose Michelin-starred restaurant will offer an exceptional panoramic setting. This gastronomic dimension further enhances the tower’s appeal as a destination in its own right.

According to him, the hotel will also feature the "Salon des cigognes" restaurant on the 30th floor, open 24 hours a day, as well as a 300-square-metre boardroom on the 29th level designed to host corporate board meetings and business events (MICE).

Culture and Views at the Summit

Continuing our ascent to the 50th floor, we discovered a cultural space set to host exhibitions, artistic installations and occasional events, enriching the visitor experience.

But the highlight of the visit remains the 22-metre-high observatory, perched at the top of the tower, offering panoramic views stretching up to 60 kilometres. Open to the public by reservation, with tickets priced at 250 dirhams for adults and 80 dirhams for children, the exhibition titled "Le ciel parle arabe" presents the capital through a cultural lens, featuring an exceptional collection of artworks from the Sbihi Museum in Salé.

It should be noted that although the tower has 55 floors, the presence of several mezzanines limits elevator access to the 51st level, which serves as its symbolic summit.

Although we were not able to access the offices, residences and hotel rooms, the visit offered journalists a striking vertical experience, highlighting Rabat’s growing international appeal.
